 Auburn, CA -- Today Placer County Executive Officer Thomas Miller announced to the Board of Supervisors his plans to retire early next year. District 1 Supervisor Jack Duran issued the following statement:

Two Roseville-area residents’ accomplishments did not go unnoticed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors who honored them Tuesday by awarding them with commemorative coins. The board annually honors Placer County residents who make an impact in their community.

A $100,000 fund dispensing money to charitable causes and controlled by the Placer County Board of Supervisors still stands after weathering an internal challenge.
 
Three supervisors – Kirk Uhler, Jim Holmes and Robert Weygandt – won out, retaining board members’ power to turn down some applicants and recommend others to the full board.

 Placer County added its voice Tuesday to a growing chorus of counties calling for adequate, secure funding to handle parolees and lower-risk criminal offenders who will be shifted from state to county responsibility beginning this week.

The City of Roseville and Placer County reached a tentative tax-sharing deal today that will permit more than $150 million in infrastructure improvements within the city.
 
The Placer County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the agreement at their meeting. Roseville City Council is expected to vote on the item in October.
 
Under the terms of the proposed deal, Placer County will support Roseville’s annexation of the Sierra Vista and Creek View developments, and the Reason Farm Environmental Preserve in west Roseville.
